Complex Sports + Complex Sneakers
I was given the opportunity to design content highlighting the latest in sports and sneakers. This meant illustrating lead images and storyboards for the online articles. And art directing for some of my favorite shows like Sneaker Shopping and Full Size Run. Below are some of my favorites.
Fabolous - Sneaker Shopping
At the 2:45 mark, Fabolous speaks on his love for Nike Air Force 1s and stopping at the Nike HQ during the Hard Knock Life Tour. All the stars including Jay Z, DMX and Method Man stopped at the Nike Employee Store for a shopping spree. I did the storyboarding and illustrations for this segment.
Blake Griffin - Sneaker Shopping
At the 3:55 mark, Blake speaks on behind the scenes plans that he had for the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He explains how they had more theatrics planned but didn't fall through. He still won and made a statement. I created the storyboarding and illustrations for this segment.
Complex Sports - NBA Courtside Stories
Celebrity NBA fans Chris Rock, Floyd Mayweather, Denzel Washington, Jay Z and Spike Lee share funny stories about their court side run-ins with star players. I created the storyboarding and illustrations for this segment.
The Most Influential Celebrities in Sneaker Culture
DJ Khaled, Kayne West, Drake and Travis Scott were a few of the names chosen for this prestigious title. The goal for this was to highlight the sneaker(s) and the celebrity within the lead images. Capturing their style and moments in 2018 sneaker culture.
DaBaby - Sneaker Shopping
At the 2:00 mark, DaBaby speaks about the "shoe man era" when guys used to sell sneakers out of their trunks. The integrity and authenticity were definitely suspicious at the time, but if you had to have em, you had to have em. I created the storyboarding and illustrations for this segment.
Sneaker Shopping's JLP shares his latest sneaker pickups
At the 2:50 mark, Joe pulls out the Retro Jordan VI "Defining Moments Pack". He speaks about the crazy release in 2006, when sneaker heads went crazy camping out and causing a ruckus to get their hands on the pack. I created the storyboarding and illustrations for this segment.
Life at Complex - Steph Curry x Grateful "meme" (2017)
After winning his second NBA Championship, Stephen Curry posts an edit I created to his IG account. Tony, the host of the show investigates when went behind the scenes of this picture. Props to Al for coming up with the idea!
Complex Sports 2019 NBA Award predictions
Ahead of the official announcement of the NBA awards, Complex Sports gives their take on who the winners will be. I think 5/6 of the predictions were correct! I pulled off the concepts and illustrations for this online article.
